*A Las Vegas judge faces a formal ethics complaint after posting a hot tub photo and other unprofessional images on her social media accounts.
Clark County District Court Judge Erika Ballou went viral over one post that shows her in a hot tub with two public defenders. She captioned the image, “Robson is surrounded by great t*ts.”
The Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline cited the April 2022 post in the formal statement of charges against Ballou, Fox News reports.
“Judge Ballou posted a photograph of her Facebook page of herself in a hot tub with two public defenders, Shana Brouwers and Robson Hauser, with the caption, ‘Robson is surrounded by great t***,’” according to the formal statement of charges.
The commission also pointed to another selfie post on Instagram from Sept. 2021, that Ballou captioned: “Life is still beautiful, despite the fact that Billie Eilish doesn’t start for 30 minutes and I have an 8:30 calendar tomorrow.” The post included the hashtags “Vacatethe[Explitive]OuttaOutofCustodyCases” and “WhereInTheWorldisCarmenSanDiego.”
Fox News reports that the commission alleges several of Ballou’s controversial posts violate three Canons, including Canon 1, Rule 2.1, which calls for judges to act in a manner that “promotes public confidence in the independence, integrity and impartiality of the jury.”
Ballou is also accused of violating Canon 2, Rule 2.1, which stipulates that the duties of judicial office shall “take precedence over all of a judge’s personal and extracurricular activities,” and Canon 3, Rule 3.1, which says judges shall not “participate in activities that would appear to a reasonable person to undermine the judge’s independence, integrity and impartiality.”
Ballou reportedly responded to her potential discipline in a Facebook post that included the following lyric from a Cardi B song, “Get money, go hard, you’re mother****** right.”
