Shocking Video Shows Man Leaping Over Desk/Bench to Attack Judge | WATCH

The suspect's defense attorney says that his client has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

*A Nevada judge was attacked in the courtroom during a sentencing hearing Wednesday (01-03-24). 30-year-old Deobra Redden managed to high jump over the judge’s bench. And it was all caught on video.

You can see and hear the exact moment Judge Mary Kay Holthus denied Redden bail and began to sentence Redden to jail. But before the judge could finish redden rushes towards her. jumps over her bench and attacks her.

You can see the judge fall to the ground and district court Marshalls jump in to try and stop Redden. They are seen struggling to contain him for a few seconds before the video ends.

in a statement to KTNV Channel 13, the Las Vegas district court says Judge Holthus experienced some injuries and is being monitored at the moment. Additionally, a court marshal was transported to the hospital after sustaining some injuries. He’s in stable condition.

The statement then goes on to say:

“We commend the heroic acts of her staff, law enforcement, and all others who subdued the defendant. the court remains committed to a safe and secure courthouse and courtrooms. we are reviewing all our protocols and will do whatever is necessary to protect the judiciary, the public, and our employees.”

The judge had a full court docket on Wednesday but after the incident, Marshalls cleared the courtroom for the rest of the day.

Redden now has a court appearance set for Thursday morning at 9:00 before a different criminal judge.

Redden is now facing new charges stemming from the incident which include one felony charge of battery on a protected person resulting in substantial bodily harm and three other misdemeanor battery charges.
