*Jeannie Mai plans to teach her biracial daughter Monaco about her Vietnamese culture.

“Traveling is a big thing for Monaco and I,” Mai said at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve event, She Knows reports. “So, I’ve already taken her to about six different countries. This year, I want to take her to Vietnam ‘cause she’s never been and I wanna do some work out there. I wanna do some of my philanthropic work with anti-trafficking, and I wanna teach her about part of her heritage.”

Mai shares Monaco with her ex-husband, rapper Jeezy. The former couple is embattled in a divorce case, with Jeezy claiming Mai is “gatekeeping” his visitations with their child.

As we reported… Jeezy filed for divorce in Atlanta, Georgia, on Sept. 14, after two-and-a-half years of marriage. According to People, the filing says the marriage is “irretrievably broken” with “no hope for reconciliation.”

“I think we as women specifically don’t hear it enough that there is no greater love in your life, even as a mom, that you will ever get from anybody other than yourself. That is the first love of your life, and that will be the last love of your life,” Mai, 44, shared with People in a new interview.

“As women, we look to our partners, we look to our parents, we look to our jobs, way more than we do ourselves, me included. And this year, I am putting myself front row,” she added.

Mai told PEOPLE in June that “Monaco is a beautiful Black Vietnamese American, and what that means is really understanding what being Black means from your grandfather, what being Black means from your cousin, what being Vietnamese means from your grandmother because she has a totally different take than what I have as a Vietnamese American.”

When Mai appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show last month, she noted that she wants her daughter to be fluent in English and Vietnamese.

“I mean, she pretty much understands everything we say in Vietnamese, which is so cool because that’s how I learned to speak. I have to speak it fully at home, and then when you go to school, you’ll learn English like that [snaps],” she said, per She Knows.
