Cam Newton Takes Responsibility and Expresses Remorse for Scuffle At Youth Football Camp | WATCH

*Cam Newton expressed remorse for his involvement in a scuffle at a 7-on-7 youth football tournament, stating “there’s no excuse” for his actions.

Video footage from the Atlanta tournament emerged Sunday and went viral on social media, showing Newton being pushed by three individuals near a set of steps, with the altercation escalating to pushing, shoving, and grabbing near a fence line. The clip, lasting less than 30 seconds, was halted by a police officer and event security.

In an episode of his YouTube show “4th and 1,” released Friday (watch it above), Newton admitted he “let my emotions get the best of me.”

He added, “It should not have been called for. Simple. And with that, I apologize to anybody affected,” including event organizers, players, and parents.

Although Newton, the top pick in the 2011 NFL draft, did not initiate physical aggression in the video, he appeared to defend himself against three others. The catalyst for the altercation remained unclear, as Newton mentioned it “starts with words and it should have ended with words.”

Acknowledging the potential escalation of the scuffle, Newton recognized that his involvement contradicted his role model status. He emphasized the importance of emotional control, admitting, “You’ve got to always stay in control of your emotions.”

Newton, absent from NFL play since 2021, spent part of the season with the Carolina Panthers, the team that drafted him. Over his 11-season NFL career, he amassed over 32,000 passing yards and 194 touchdowns, along with 75 rushing touchdowns during stints with the Panthers and New England Patriots.
