*The ‘Bearded Lady,’ known as Harnaam Kaur, holds the Guinness World Record for being the youngest female with a full beard as of 2017.
As SandraRose.com reports, Kaur suffers from PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), which causes unwanted facial hair in women. Due to her Muslim religion, she is not allowed to shave the beard — and even if she did, the hair would grow back thicker.
In a Facebook video, Kaur reveals that she’s attracted to masculine men yet finds that only feminine men are interested in her.
“Really feminine men message me, but that’s not who I am attracted to,” she said. “I like masculine men. I’m very soft. I’m so different to what you see on TV… At home I’m very quiet. I’m very feminine. I’m very soft. People don’t get to see that side of me.”
According to Guinness World Records, Harnaam was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome when she was 12 years old. The condition affects millions of people around the world.
“So many people struggle with the medical condition that I have. Women having facial hair is not unknown,” she told the outlet in a 2021 interview.
“It’s so funny that it’s ok when it’s on a guy, but when it’s on a women it’s mocked. Why do I need to keep explaining my body? Women’s bodies are so policed.”
Kaur confronts hostility or ignorance to educate people about her condition. She has dedicated her life to motivating individuals to embrace their beauty, regardless of its form.
“I wish people asked me more questions about personal development, you know, ‘how do I add value? You found your purpose, how can I find my purpose?'”
