30th Annual SAG Awards Red Carpet | Watch

The 30th Annual SAG Awards were held over the weekend with a star-studded red carpet!

The awards are the by actors for actors – as the voting committee consists of only SAG members. Most actors have said these awards have more meaning for them because they are recognized by their fellow actors.  

This years show took place at the Shrine Auditorium, where all of the stars of the most talked-about movies and TV shows of last year. The top contenders in film were Barbie, Oppenheimer, The Holdovers, and American Fiction. The top TV shows of the year were Succession, The Last of Us, and The Bear.  

EUR was on the red carpet and spoke with the actors that starred in the films and TV shows nominated this year.

“To be kind of celebrating it (the success of The Holdovers) now as like an awards contender and seeing obviously the great success that both Paul Giamatti and Da’vine Joy Randolph have been having. It’s amazing,” said Dominic Sessa. Sessa stars alongside Giamatti and Randolph, who took home the SAG Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Mary Lamb in The Holdovers.  

Last year actors were faced with the longest strike in history that put a hold on Hollywood. Our favorite TV auntie Sheryl Lee Ralph shared encouraging words for those who questioned following their dreams.

“This is one of the most difficult industries ever. But you must know that you belong here, you must create space for yourself!”  

The supporting cast of American Fiction talked about the movie’s impact on people. And how the movie’s focus was to shift the narrative of black stereotypes in most Black films.

“We have to keep up the conversations, we have to have the conversations, we have to want to have the conversations,” said Keith David in response to asking why a movie like American Fiction was important. Another aspect of this film was the importance of the support of family. Myra Lucretia Taylor who plays Lorraine shared how fans have connected with this film.

“She (a fan) just reached up and hugged me. And then she said my wife and I saw that movie and it meant so much to us,” said Taylor.
