*Former NBA fixture Trevor Ariza is ending his marriage with a series of agreements in favor of his ex-wife Bree Anderson who’s taking the money but wanted more.
Radar Online reports that Anderson has agreed to pay $10,000 a month in child support to Anderson in the couple’s divorce settlement. The settlement, which was reached last week, includes Ariza covering all school and medical expenses for his children. The couple agreed the child support was the “result of negotiation and compromise and is not a guideline child support order, which Trevor has determined is $2,481,” the site noted.
Although she went with Ariza’s $10K payments, the amount is far less than the $60,000 per month she demanded from the athlete months ago, claiming their children should continue living the lavish lifestyle the couple enjoyed during their time together.
Acknowledging his ex’s hefty demand, Ariza countered, claiming his earnings have dried up since his 2022 departure from the NBA. Ariva’s claims of being in the process of lowering his budget were met unfavorably by Anderson, who suggested he sell off his assets to meet any support obligations.
Under the settlement, Anderson agreed not to receive spousal support from Ariza. In addition, she was awarded the family home in San Diego, California. Ariza will keep the property in Playa Vista, located near Los Angeles. The settlement further noted the pair’s agreement to stay 50 feet away from each other at events for their kids and not communicate directly with each other.
Anderson was also awarded all the cars in her possession as well as one-half interest in Ariza’s retirement accounts with the NBA, including his 401k and pension plan. Ariza will keep all he currently has and make a one-time lump sum payment of $664,000. The former Los Angeles Laker will not be taking care of any of Anderson’s credit card bills, as they will pay their own credit card bills.
“The total amount of the equalization payment is a compromise between the Parties and each Party agrees that the equalization payment equitably divides the community assets and debts, and other claims that either Party has or may have against the other in connection with this dissolution of marriage proceeding,” the ex-couples deal read.
Regarding their homes, Anderson will have until December 15, 2023, to vacate the Playa Vista residence. Ariza will be allowed to use the San Diego home until December.
The divorce settlement is the latest development in the tumultuous relationship between Ariva and Anderson. Prior to the deal, Anderson obtained a restraining order against Ariza months after filing for divorce. Claims blasted out by Anderson include incidents involving abuse as well as being uncomfortable with Ariva showing up unannounced at her home, Ariva cursing at her in front of their children, and threatening to change the locks on her home if she did not comply with what he wanted.
Although Anderson included photos of the alleged injuries she suffered, Ariza denied being abusive. According to him, it was Anderson who was violent during their relationship. A temporary order prohibiting Ariza from coming near Anderson was later granted.
With the divorce settlement, the exes will not have to worry about restraining orders as all those orders are dismissed.
