*In regard to the situation between Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert, the actress/singer/dancer has let it be known that she has filed for divorce from the ex-NBA baller. The action comes in the wake of her September announcement that they had already been separated.
Taylor’s Georgia-filed legal docs show what went wrong in the couple’s 7-year union. The demise of their marriage includes the fact that Taylor secretly filed for divorce in 2022 but changed her mind and withdrew the filing the next day, reports TMZ.
Her new filing shows she is seeking primary physical custody of their two kids, as well as joint legal custody and child support.
Taylor, 32, is accusing Shumpert, 33, of being jealous about her fame and feeling insecure about being good enough for her. This despite the fact he was earning much more money than her from playing pro basketball. Lest we not forget he has an NBA championship ring from his stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
She also adds that her estranged husband was prone to “treating her cruelly and displaying extreme narcissistic behavior throughout the majority of their marriage.” This reportedly included him “being extremely emotionally and mentally abusive” towards her, exhibiting “cruel treatment and selfishness,” and crashing her Rolls-Royce only to flee the scene, evading a second arrest for DUI.
If you’ve followed the couple’s marriage/separation saga, you may recall that in her comments earlier this fall, she downplayed talk of infidelity. She wrote:
“To be 1000% clear, ‘infidelity’ ain’t one of the reasons for our departure. We are still the best of friends, great business partners, and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children.”
Well, with this new filing, it’s clear that Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert aren’t the best of friends and that his cheating IS a big part of why she filed to divorce him.
