Power Book II: Ghost’s Berto Colon on Lorenzo’s Death | EUR Exclusive WATCH

*Berto Colon is an actor, director, and writer known for his film, television, and theater work. Perhaps he is best known for his role as Lorenzo Tejada in the popular STARZ crime drama Power Book II: Ghost. Lorenzo is the head of the Tejada family, a powerful drug organization in New York City.

Throughout the series, Lorenzo is involved in a power struggle with other drug lords, law enforcement, and his own family members, which include his wife Monet Tejada, played by Mary J. Blige, and their three children—Cane (Woody McLane), Dru (Lovell Adams Gary) and Diana (LaToya Tonodeo)

The most recent episode of “Ghost” saw Lorenzo meet his demise as Monet had her husband set up after he admitted to accidentally murdering her beloved (secret) son, Zeke.

Colon shared that the decision was made once they were approved for season three. The actor said that when he read Episode 10 from season two, he knew there was more to come.

“The team, my agent, and the network all got together, and we figured out what this arc would be. So I knew well in advance what was happening; I didn’t know how. And I thought, well, let’s make the best of it, right? Because the fact that a matter is that there’s always been this danger with the way that Lorenzo and the life that they all have. This is not for everyone; this line of work carries with it a very existential danger. And that is that you can pay with your life at any moment.”

Colon added that he thought it was accurate and a great way to tell the story.

“I instantly wanted to ensure I found the motivation and goal for this arc. So there was this idea of a little desperation, obviously, because he’s not ever going to go back to jail. But then the whole idea of, you know, we have his time counted. His time is already specific. And so he has to make sure to do enough inside that time to redeem himself and right all the wrongs. So I thought it was interesting.”
