*Oprah Winfrey’s name is being floated as a potential replacement for Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), California if she were to resign.

According to the Associated Press, California Governor Gavin Newsom dropped Winfrey’s name as a possible fill-in should Feinstein, 89, step down amid health concerns.

After being out of commission for 10 weeks due to shingles, Senator Feinstein returned to Washington on May 10. Her bizarre interactions with the press since her return has caused her peers to question her ability to serve, The Daily Beast reports.

Feinstein will turn 90 next month, making her the oldest member of Congress. She has shown no signs of calling it quits despite several Democrats calling for her resignation.

“It’s time for @SenFeinstein to resign,” California Democrat, Rep. Ro Khanna tweeted on April 12.

“We need to put the country ahead of personal loyalty. While she has had a lifetime of public service, it is obvious she can no longer fulfill her duties,” Khanna continued. “Not speaking out undermines our credibility as elected representatives of the people.”

Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota also hit up Twitter to call it “a dereliction of duty” for Feinstein to remain seated in the Senate

Newsom promised to appoint a Black woman to Feinstein’s post in 2021.
