*New Edition is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but if its performance at the organization’s annual induction ceremony is an indication, then anticipation will be high for its eventual entry.

Paying tribute to one of their legendary predecessors, The Spinners, New Edition took the stage with the purpose of performing a three-song medley of classic Spinners material, according to Soul Tracks. Tunes comprising the medley included “I’ll Be Around,” “Could It Be I’m Falling In Love,” and “The Rubberband Man.”

New Edition’s tribute to The Spinners was among the highlights at the Hall’s induction ceremony. The 38th annual event was held Nov. 3 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The Hall’s 2023 inductees included:

– Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, The Spinners (Performer Category)

– DJ Kool Herc, Link Wray (Musical Influence Award)

– Chaka Khan, Al Kooper, Bernie Taupin (Musical Excellence Award)

– Don Cornelius (Ahmet Ertegun Award)

In other NE news, the sextet (comprised of Ralph Tresvant, Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Johnny Gill) is gearing up for its highly anticipated residency in Las Vegas. In November, New Edition announced they will perform six residency shows at the Wynn Las Vegas Encore Theater.

The residency will kick off on Feb. 28 and run through March 9, 2024.

As for what fans can expect, Brown alluded to an intimate experience that will be “more theatrical” than previous tours.

“This will be a lot more intimate,” he told the Associated Press. “We wanted it to be up, close and personal for our fans.”

Leading up to the residency, DeVoe revealed new music from New Edition will likely be on the horizon.

“It makes sense,” he said. “I think it’ll be a great time to get in the studio and put our vocals on something new and fresh.”
