Lionsgate and ‘Emancipation’ Director Antoine Fuqua Working on Michael Jackson Biopic | VIDEOs

*Lionsgate and director Antoine Fuqua are working on a new film based on the life of Michael Jackson. Titled “Michael,” the biopic will supposedly address “everything” about Jackson’s life.

Fuqua, known for films such as “Emancipation,” “The Equalizer,” and the Oscar-winning “Training Day,” started his directing career directing music videos.

In a statement to “The Hollywood Reporter,” Fuqua said he was inspired early on by Jackson’s groundbreaking music videos.

“For me, there is no artist with the power, the charisma, and the sheer musical genius of Michael Jackson,” Fuqua stated. “I was influenced to make music videos by watching his work — the first Black artist to play in heavy rotation on MTV. His music and those images are part of my worldview, and the chance to tell his story on the screen alongside his music was irresistible.”

John Logan (“Skyfall”) is writing the biopic’s script, while Graham King (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) will be the producer. Jackson’s estate is also said to be cooperating with this movie’s creators. People have started wondering if the estate will allow the creators to address the child molestation accusations against Jackson, as did “Leaving Neverland,” a 2019 HBO documentary about the “Thriller” singer.

Jackson’s estate condemned the “Leaving Neverland” film, terming it an “outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on” the music legend.

“Leaving Neverland” was a film by BAFTA-winning director Dan Reed. It addressed molestation accusations against Jackson and interviewed Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who claimed they were befriended and then “sexually abused” by Jackson when they were kids (7 and 10 years old, respectively).

Jackson, a Grammy-winning performer, was accused of molesting a 13-year-old boy in 2003. The incident allegedly occurred at his Neverland Ranch in Los Olivos, Califonia. He was, however, acquitted of all charges related to the allegations.
