First Annual Humor Mill Comedy Awards Lands in Hollywood | EUR Video Exclusive

*The 1st Annual Humor Awards took place last week at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles and we were on hand for the grand event!

Co-hosted by Chris Spencer, Tony T. Roberts, and Juhahn Jones, the star-studded celebration honored many legends in the comedy world with a ceremony that’s been nearly 20 years in the making by The Humor Mill owner, Frank Holder.

The night’s honorees included George Wallace, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Ralph Farquhar who earned the Icon Award.

Other winners of the evening included “Real Husbands of Hollywood” for Best Sitcom, Kim Fields for Best Comedic Actress in TV/Film, D.C. YoungFly for Best Comedic Actor in TV/Film, “Day Shift” for Funniest Film of the Year, Juhahn Jones for Sketch of the Year, Daphnique Springs for Best Comedic Actress, Earthquake for Comedian of the Year, David Arnold for Comedy Special of The Year and Deon Cole and Gabrielle Dennis for Best Comedic Brand Advertising for their Old Spice commercials.

Per a press release, The inaugural Humor Mill Comedy Awards is first in nearly 20 years to celebrate trailblazing legends and visionary emerging stars influencing Black culture in comedy. Recognizing comics of the past, present and future, the show is set to be an evening of unparalleled entertainment, marked by a masterful display of wit and humor. The Humor Mill Comedy Awards aims to bring urban comedy to the forefront and give proper recognition by introducing new voices to the world and honoring those who have made lasting contributions.

Many Hollywood A-listers came out to celebrate with those honored, including Stan Lathan, Tina Knowles Lawson and her husband, actor Richard Lawson, Tiffany Haddish, Brian J. White, Flame Monroe, Chaunte Wayans, Dorien Wilson, and Miguel Núñez Jr.
