*Shockingly, before a live audience and online, Brazilian gospel singer Pedro Henrique collapsed and died onstage as he was performing.
The incident happened Wednesday evening. His record label, Todah Music, released a statement Thursday morning (12/14/23) confirming the news. Henrique, who was only 30,
“There are very difficult situations in life for which we have no explanation,” said the label’s statement in Portuguese that was posted on Instagram. “We just need to understand that God’s will prevails! Pedro was a happy young man, a friend to all. An only son. A present husband and a super dedicated father. The Christian music sector is in mourning. The Todah Music family is in mourning. Heaven in chorus welcomes an illustrious son: Pedro Henrique! So long, dear brother! So long! May the Holy Spirit comfort everyone.”
“Pedro was a happy young man, a friend to everyone. Only child. A present husband and a super dedicated father. There is no pastor or Christian in Brazil who says anything other than this: – Pedro is simple, he is a believer! What a smile! How nice! What voice! The kind of people that are great to have around,” the post continued.
The cause of death is not yet known, although there is speculation that a heart attack is the cause.
“Everything leads us to believe it was a fulminant heart attack, but doctors have not yet given as certain the cause of death being a heart attack,” Todah Music’s Giovani Mandelli told Brazilian outlet Pipoca Moderna. “The cause of death is being investigated by the medical team,” the site reported.
Henrique was singing “Vai Ser Tão Lindo” at “a religious event.” That song title translates to “It’s going to be so beautiful.” The artist was in the city of Feira de Santana, Bahia, to participate in a private event organized by influencer Lôise Abreu.
Ironically, today (12/14/23) Henrique’s new single “Medley: Levanta / Não Fica Assim / Descendência (Ao Vivo)” was released. He was scheduled to perform in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro later this month.
Henrique is survived by his wife, Suilan Barreto, and his 2-month-old daughter, Zoe (see photos below via Pedro’s Instagram).
