*The oldest Black fraternity in the country, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., is moving its 2025 conference from Orlando due to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ racist policies against the Black community.

As Raw Story reports, the event would have generated millions of dollars for the local economy. Organizers expected to raise $4.6 million.

“Although we are moving our convention from Florida, Alpha Phi Alpha will continue to support the strong advocacy of Alpha Brothers and other advocates fighting against the continued assault on our communities in Florida by Governor Ron DeSantis,” said general president Dr. Willis L. Lonzer III in a press release, the Tallahassee Democrat reports.

Several national Black organizations have moved events over the governor’s seemingly anti-Black policies. In May, the NAACP issued a travel advisory for Florida due to its “open hostility” toward Blacks under DeSantis.

“Florida is openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals,” the NAACP said. “Before traveling to Florida, please understand that the state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by African Americans and other communities of color.”

We reported previously via CNN … Florida has banned the teaching of critical race theory – which acknowledges systemic racism is a part of American history and challenges the beliefs that allowed it to flourish.

The governor said the concept would teach children “the country is rotten and that our institutions are illegitimate.” He also passed legislation barring instruction that suggests anyone is privileged or oppressed based on their race or skin color.

Most recently, current state education standards for history downplay slavery and teaches students that enslaved people learned valuable skills they could use for personal benefit.
