*The Tim Burton-directed series “Wednesday” starring Jenna Ortega has drawn the second-biggest week ever recorded by Nielsen’s streaming chart.
This comes after the series ranked the third most-watched English-language show on the streaming platform, The Blast reports.
Per TV Line, “For the Week of Nov. 21, the Addams Family offshoot amassed just shy of 6 billion minutes viewed across a mere eight episodes, a total only bested by the 7.2 billion minutes that Stranger Things 4 drew this past Memorial Day weekend (for 32 available episodes),” the outlet writes.
The success of the series was driven largely by multicultural viewers, according to Nielsen, with TV Line noting that a quarter of the audience was Hispanic households. About 60% of viewers were female and the average age of the TV audience over the course of the series was 18-49.

“Wednesday” also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luiz Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Fred Armisen as Fester Addams, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, and Christina Ricci.
Ricci played the role of Wednesday Addams the in the films “The Addams Family” and “The Addams Family Values”.
“I enjoyed doing this TV series, just because it was interesting to have a different pace, a slower kind of burn. But obviously for me, I still love movies. I still think there’s a place for movies these days,” Burton said in October during the European fan screening of “Wednesday” at the Lucca Comics & Games conference, Variety reports.
“I grew up watching the TV series, and I also liked Charles Adams’ cartoons. His original cartoons were really inspirational to me. But what triggered me most was just the Wednesday character,” Burton said.
“Wednesday” marks Burton’s first TV series and he noted that the character has always been “portrayed as a child,” so he decided to take a different direction.
“I wanted to see what she would look like in school, and how she would react to her family, and other people, and therapy,” he said.
The first season of “Wednesday” is streaming now on Netflix.
