*Tyler Perry paid tribute to Stephen “tWitch” Boss, after the dancer died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head Tuesday.

Boss was runner-up on “So You Think You Can Dance” and he served the DJ for “The Ellen Show.” On Wednesday (Dec.14), Ellen DeGeneres commented on his death via social media, saying:  I’m heartbroken. tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children – Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia,” DeGeneres wrote alongside a photo of her and tWitch hugging.

Perry reflected on his own suicide attempt in wake of the tragic news about tWitch. The filmmaker got candid about his past struggles in an Instagram video in hopes of helping those who are currently suffering.

“I’ve only met [Boss] a couple of times, and he always full of life and seemed like such a light,” Perry says in the video below.

“I just wanted to take you back to a time in my life where I tried to commit suicide, a couple of times. Because it was so dark, I didn’t think it would get any better,” he continues.

“I had endured so much pain, so much abuse, sexual abuse. It was all so hard to just move through I thought the only way to make this better, this pain to go away, was to end my life. Had any of those attempts happened, I would have missed the best part of my life,” he says in the clip.

Perry goes on to say that he emerged from this dark place “the happiest I’ve ever been.”

Meanwhile, Ciara also remembered tWitch in a TikTok video showing the two dancing together on social media.

“I am so crushed to hear the news that you are no longer with us. I’ve always known you as joy, laughter, good times, and a big smile! Heaven has gained an angel today! May you rest in paradise. Praying for your family during this difficult time,” she wrote.

As Complex reports, Boss’ wife Allison Holker Boss said in a statement: Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

She continued, “To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt,” she continued. “I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.”
