*Raven-Symoné revealed in a 2020 interview that she has not spent a single dime of the money she earned as a child star on “The Cosby Show.”
In a previous Instagram Live, Yahoo reports that Symoné was asked by social media influencer Jerome Trammel: “So, is it true that you haven’t touched your ‘Cosby’ money?” To which she replied, “I haven’t touched my ‘Cosby’ money.”
As theGrio reports, Symoné starred as a series regular in 66 episodes of “The Cosby Show” between 1990 and 1992. She first appeared in the series at the age of four in 1989. Raven spoke about her experience in an episode of “UNCENSORED” on TV One last year.
“I can only tell you about the journey to The Cosby Show from folklore that my parents told me how to answer that question when I was younger,” she shared, Vibe reported. “Honestly, I don’t remember…I don’t remember working with…I don’t remember a scene. I don’t remember anything while it’s a rehearsal or a camera. I remember the smell of the soul food coming out of his dressing room…When we opened the show in front of a live studio audience we had to walk up these stairs and we came down that classic staircase. I remember standing up there, and playing with the wood before I went down. I do not remember as soon as the camera starts. Something clicks off and I do what I’m trained to do.”

Raven continued, “When I turned 18, I knew something was going on so I started going to therapy, and it’s dissociation. I just blackout, I turn into who I’m supposed to be when the camera is on, and then I come back to when normal life resumes. Again, it’s bottled up, I still have a great relationship with Malcolm Jamal Warner, and I don’t even know why. I just know that I adore him. I can’t really tell you the genesis of it but I’m sure he helped me when I needed it.”
Meanwhile, we reported that Raven-Symoné and LeVar Burton were among the honorees at Variety’s first-ever Family Entertainment Awards, presented by Kidoodle.
Raven-Symoné, star of “Raven’s Home” and Burton, beloved host of “Reading Rainbow,” received the storytelling visionary award for their contributions to kids’ programming, Variety reports.
“Kids are the smartest people I know,” Raven-Symoné told audience members at The West Hollywood Edition. “The family space and the kids’ space is worthy of bold, thought-provoking content. They can handle it.”
The other honorees at the Dec. 8 ceremony included the creators of “Cobra Kai,” Pete Docter, chief creative officer at Pixar Animation, Julian Shapiro-Barnum, creator of the web series “Recess Therapy,” and the executive producers of “SpongeBob Squarepants” and SpongeBob voice actor Tom Kenny, who received the franchise award from Nickelodeon Animation president Ramsey Naito, per Variety.
“I do believe, like Raven, that [children] deserve the best of what we have to offer,” Burton said during his acceptance speech. “I’ve never been ashamed, I’ve never backed into that which I do in this space, because our kids deserve it.”
