Angela Bassett, Jonathan Majors Honored at 5th Annual Critics Choice Celebration of Black Television and Cinema | EUR Video Exclusive

*It was a spectacular night at the 5th Celebration of Black Television and Cinema awards earlier this month in Los Angeles.

The association honored some of Hollywood’s shining stars including Angela Bassett, Jonathan Majors, Kid Cudi, Michael B. Jordan, Berry Gordy, Nicco Annan, Quinta Brunson, Danielle Deadwyler, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Quincy Isaiah, and more. Host of the evening Bill Bellamy, was also in attendance to help celebrate along with celebrities like DeVon Franklin, Nicole Brown, Lauren E. Banks, and more.

Bassett, who received the Career Achievement award, was thrilled to be honored by the association.

“I’ve been in this town a long time,” Bassett said. “So recognition in that way from the industry, from the town, for what it is I love doing it’s super nice. It’s always nice.”

Majors, who was awarded the Actor Award for Film, also gushed about being recognized for his work as Jesse Brown in the newly released “Devotion.”

“I’m here man, but the honor is Jesse Brown,” Majors said. “I’ve made many movies before this one, but this is the one they want to tap and pay attention to. That means a lot to me because his story is- it’s quite rare where you do a piece and at the end of the piece you meet a hero. With Jesse Brown, I met a hero.”

While discussing “Devotion, Majors points to God for his continued success.

“God,” Majors said. “My mother prayed on me since I was a little-bitty boy.”

The pre-taped ceremony will air on KTLA in January. The ceremony will also air on Nexstar stations during February for Black History Month.

Scott ‘Kid Cudi’ Mescudi: Groundbreaker Award

Gina Prince-Bythewood: Director Award for Film
