*Pastor Jamal Bryant of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church is facing backlash after planning to charge locals over a hundred bucks to get tested for COVID-19.
Bryant, the ex-husband of “The Real Housewives of Potomac” star Gizelle Bryant, is being slammed on social media for wanting to turn the parking lot of the Georgia church into a testing site and charging $150 a pop.
As reported by All About the Tea, Gizelle said the church plans to partner with a Florida lab to offer the testing—promising results in 24 hours. The plan was postponed once Governor Brian Kemp issued a statewide shelter-in-place order.

A statement released by New Birth notes that the church plans to move forward with the testing once the quarantine is lifted.
“To remain compliant with Governor Brian Kemp’s executive order, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and various medical partners will postpone the COVID-19 testing scheduled for this weekend,” the church’s statement said. “We look forward to coordinating with our local and state officials to support flattening the curve in Georgia and helping to heal our nation and our world from this global pandemic.”
The church has advised the public that telemedicine company, RoweDocs, will perform the pre-screening for $25, and the COVID-19 test for an additional $125. The pre-screening test is required and will be provided on site, the report states.
The effort aims to aid Black residents who lack adequate access to health services.
According to the latest COVID-19 updates, there are 405,749 confirmed cases in the U.S., and 13, 811 deaths. Globally, there are 1,464,852 confirmed cases and 85,397 deaths.
Meanwhile, the media is attempting to make Black Americans the “face” of the deadly virus by claiming more of us are dying from the novel coronavirus than any other racial group in the nation.
