Mother Battling Cockroach Infestation in Inkster Public Housing Speaks Out [VIDEO]

*Residents living with roaches at the Pine Street apartment complex in Michigan are speaking out about the infestation because they say the Inkster Housing Commission has done little to help get the pests under control.

Shakia Logan says they’re in every corner, behind most doors, and even in her kids’ beds — and she’s been battling them for several months.

“They’re all in there,” she said, opening up a box of Saltine crackers and roaches crawls out of the side of the box, per WXYZ.com.  “We eat outside because of the roaches, they’re so bad.”

Back in September, 7 Action News spoke to another resident battling a roach infestation — but the problem has persisted.

Andrew Carter with the Inkster Housing Commission’s Resident Council said “This is so bad, even Hell don’t want to have anything to do with it.”

Logan has been living in Inkster public housing for two years, and says she reported the problem to management several times but even after an exterminator treated her unit, the problem seemed to get worse.

Paul Bollinger, Executive Director of the Inkster Housing Commission, noted that the contracted exterminator, Terminix, has been sub par.

“We did have a meeting with Terminix, with both Terminix and our team to sit down and go through where are the deficiencies in the process so we can work back through filling those deficiencies, he said.

Since September, Inkster Public Housing has been relocating families due to poor conditions such as bug infestations and mold.

Logan is hoping she and her two young kids can also be moved.

“It does feel hopeless at this point,” she said.
