Los Angeles, CA – LA Live was the place you wanted to be to experience true black entertainment during this year’s BET Awards pre-show and blue carpet, honoring hip hop’s fallen soldier, Nipsey Hussle.
At any given moment, if you looked up in time, you’d spot Karreuche, The Migos, Tyler Perry or DJ Khaled giving a quick hello and wave to their fans. The weather was blazing hot, but the guests arrived looking cool in their high fashions, anticipating the performances and the winners of the night.
EUR’s Robin Ayers caught up with many of the attendees such as Vanessa Simmons, O.T. Genasis, Irv Gotti, Erica Campbell, and Kirk Franklin who consider themselves more like family to the BET with the celebration of another season of Sunday Best underway, beginning June 30, 2019.
TAYLOR ROOKS, DE’AARON FOX, MIKE CONLEY JR., JOHN WALL, SHAREEF O’NEAL & MORE TALK FASHION DRIP AT THE NBA AWARDS – WATCH
As rapper O.T. Genasis approached near us on the blue carpet, he was so hot and sweating so much that he nearly passed on several media outlets. The EUR team thought to offer him an ice-cold bottle of water as a gift, knowing that he would be so appreciative, he would stop and chat with us. Well, it worked, and we had a great conversation with O.T. about his sense of fashion and how watching BET and television in general influenced his sense of style when he was younger.
Much like Erica Campbell and Kirk Franklin, many other artists utilize events such as the BET Awards to promote upcoming projects and network with just about anyone on their wish-list. Record producer turned television executive producer, Irv Gotti, was a burst of energy as he talked about the July 2 premiere of his BET series, “Tales”, starring Thomas Q. Jones and featuring a brand-new record from Kanye West and Charlie Wilson.
There’s nothing like the energy of a BET carpet, but you should watch the video now so you can feel it for yourself, and make sure to stay tuned for more great events here on EUR!
