*TLC’s “1000-Lb Roomies” is back, and Jaz and Nesha are ready to take viewers along for a season filled with new adventures, personal growth, recovery, and possibly even romance.
Season 2 finds the besties and roommates continuing to navigate their individual wellness journeys while leaning on the friendship that has carried them through some of their toughest moments.
For Jaz, the new season brings encouraging progress in her physical therapy journey. She is not walking yet, but she has gone from being unable to lift her left leg to standing, lifting her legs and maneuvering her weight. Her recovery still comes with difficult days and a lingering fear of falling. But Jaz says she refuses to allow that fear to determine what her future looks like.
“I’m making progress, I am. My fear of falling is still the same, but I’m not letting it stop me because if I do, then I’m going to remain like this,” she says.
Jaz is also opening herself up to possibilities beyond physical recovery. After losing her grandfather and experiencing major health challenges, she says her outlook on life has changed. “I just want to live life. Like, I see how easy life can get snatched from you,” she says.
That new perspective could lead to one of the season’s most intriguing developments: a potential love interest. Jaz says she is ready to take more risks and see what comes her way, giving viewers another side of her journey as she works toward reclaiming her independence.
Nesha, meanwhile, is entering a period of discovery. She is exploring different forms of exercise, working on her business ambitions and confronting fears that have kept her from fully stepping outside her comfort zone. She is also confronting a painful part of her past this season as she examines how growing up in a religious cult affected her relationship with food and herself.
“I felt like it was something that I needed to do in order for me to start to heal because a lot of my, let’s keep it a buck, eating disorder, you know, came from my upbringing and me being withheld food and not allowed to eat at certain times or, you know, or all day for that matter,” Nesha says.
Travel will also be a major part of the new season, despite Nesha’s fear of flying. “I do want to be outside, but that plane is another story… getting there is another story,” she says.
Through all the changes, however, the friendship between Jaz and Nesha remains the heart of “1000-Lb Roomies.” Nesha describes their relationship as “sister-like,” explaining that they may not always see eye to eye but ultimately “we just kind of just keep coming back.”
That bond will be tested as both women pursue new goals, confront old fears and experience major changes in their lives. “The best way that I could describe season two is roomy adventures, honestly,” Nesha says.
Jaz agrees. “You’re going to have the good, the bad, the ugly, the cute, but at the end of the day, you’re going to have the love.”
