*Whitney Houston’s legacy is being celebrated with a new collection of her biggest records and a milestone that was more than two decades in the making.
“WH1TNEY,” released Friday (Aug. 7), brings together all 11 of Houston’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles. For Pat Houston, executor of Houston’s estate and her sister-in-law, the collection reflects more than chart accomplishments.
“Whitney always believed that the ultimate collection represented the very best of her career,” Pat told the Associated Press. “And you know, it brought together songs that defined generations. It broke records. It touched hearts around the world.”
She added that the records became “the soundtrack to millions of lives and a testament to a voice that will never be duplicated.”

Another tribute arrives as Mattel releases Houston’s first-ever Barbie. The doll recreates her colorful look from the 1987 “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” music video. The project carries special meaning for Pat because she and Houston discussed a Barbie more than 20 years ago.
“To see this vision finally come to life decades later is both emotional and very much inspiring,” she said. “You know, it served as a beautiful reminder that some dreams take time.”
Pat also reflected on Clive Davis, the music executive whose partnership with Houston helped shape her historic recording career. Davis died in June.
“You can’t mention Whitney Houston and not mention Clive Davis and you can’t mention Clive without mentioning Whitney Houston,” Pat said.
She described their relationship as deeply personal, extending well beyond the recording studio.
“He played a very, very important role in her life. And it went beyond the music. They truly loved one another,” Pat said. “He was a part of her and still is a part of her legacy.”
