*Usain Bolt, the eight-time Olympic gold medalist, has traded the thrill of the track for a slower-paced life centered around family and relaxation.
The once-unstoppable sprinter, who retired from competitive running in 2017, now finds even small physical tasks challenging. “Because when I walk up the stairs, I get out of breath,” Bolt, 39, shared in an interview with The Guardian, highlighting how his body has adjusted to a less active lifestyle, per Times News Now.
Bolt’s daily routine now revolves around his three children and simple pleasures such as watching movies or building Lego sets. “Well, normally, I wake up just in time to see the kids off to school, and then it depends on what I have to do. If I have nothing to do, I just chill out,” he explained. On days when motivation strikes, he may hit the gym, but running is no longer part of his routine.

The former world-record holder admits that his lack of running has impacted his stamina. “I mostly do gym workouts. I’m not a fan, but I think now that I’ve been out for a while, I have to actually start running,” Bolt said, reflecting on his need to regain better breathing capacity. He’s considering reintroducing laps to his routine to address the breathlessness he experiences during basic activities like climbing stairs.
Bolt’s transition from global sprinting icon to a homebody dad underscores the physical toll of stepping away from intense athletic training. “I just watched some series and am chilling until the kids come home. I spend some time with them, hanging out, until they start annoying me. Then I leave. And then afterwards, I just stay at home and watch movies, or I’m into Lego now, so I do Lego,” he shared.
