*Singer-songwriter and DJ Soleil is turning the emotional wreckage of a failed relationship into something more useful with “Heart Strings,” a moody R&B/soul record about letting go, reclaiming yourself, and recognizing what you built after someone let you down.
The New York-born, Miami-based artist has released the music video for the single, directed by Riccardo Solorzano. The performance-centered visual moves between black-and-white and color, reflecting the song’s balance between melancholy and personal growth.
“Heart Strings” follows Soleil’s jazzy, soulful reinterpretation of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and blends R&B and soul with elements of blues, funk, jazz and neo-soul.
Turning Heartbreak Into Something Better
“‘Heart Strings’ explores the phases of a less-than-ideal relationship, so the lyrics move from questioning the past to embracing personal growth,” Soleil said in promotional materials provided to EURweb.
“The song captures the bittersweet process of letting go while reclaiming the parts of yourself that someone else never gave you.”
That progression keeps “Heart Strings” from being simply another breakup record. The disappointment remains, but Soleil ultimately shifts the emphasis toward self-love and self-worth.
She co-wrote the track with CJ Hilton, who also produced it. Richard Boisrond contributed guitar, Moises Lenare played drums, Josh Walton handled bass and Juan Santiago played keys. Paolo Angulo mixed and mastered the single.

Keeping the Spotlight on Soleil
Rather than building the video around an elaborate storyline, Solorzano keeps the focus on Soleil performing.
According to the release, the movement between monochrome and color visually represents the record’s emotional contrast — solemn reflection alongside the possibility of moving forward. The sound of an applauding crowd adds a live-performance quality to the presentation.
The approach suits an artist who has spent considerable time onstage.
Soleil has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, Miami Beach Bandshell, Hard Rock Live, Hard Rock Guitar Hotel and Sofar Sounds, according to her representatives. Her musical interests stretch well beyond R&B and soul into EDM, disco house, deep house, Amapiano, Afrobeats, Baile Funk and pop, and she also regularly DJs in Miami.
Her work extends behind the scenes as well. Soleil is a voting member of the Recording Academy and serves on the Florida Chapter’s Songwriters & Composers Committee. She mentors emerging artists through Grammy U, Women in Music and Symphonic Distro and works with the Next Generation Music Foundation, which provides music education and mentorship to young people in foster care.
“Heart Strings” also isn’t the end of Soleil’s current release run. Her representatives say another single, “Rubbish,” is coming and will also be accompanied by a music video.
For now, she’s letting “Heart Strings” sit in that complicated space between remembering a relationship and recognizing you’ve outgrown it.
The relationship may be over, but Soleil’s message isn’t ultimately about what she lost.
It’s about what she reclaimed.
