*ESPN analyst Ryan Clark drew widespread attention after posting a video in which he complained about Uber drivers allegedly making assumptions about his music preferences. What some viewers took as a serious accusation later became the center of a clarification from Clark, who said the remarks were meant humorously.
In the video shared Friday, Clark described getting into a ride and hearing rap music start without discussion. He framed the moment as an example of being stereotyped, saying the driver switched the station as soon as he entered the car. “I am tired of being musically profiled in Ubers,” Clark said. “The [driver] doesn’t even ask me. He just changes the radio. First song, All Eyes On Me by Tupac. That’s not even one of the songs I listened to from that album.”
Clark added that the driver played music by Tupac and 50 Cent, which he said reflected assumptions based on his race. While the tone appeared light to some, others reacted strongly and criticized the comments as unnecessary or misguided.
I’m tired of being musically profiled in Ubers! Don’t get me wrong. I love Pac, @50cent, @richforever , @champagnepapi, & @kendricklamar… But I don’t need them blaring on Sunday morning. What about some gospel?

One of the harshest responses came from OutKick contributor Zach Dean, who shared his reaction publicly. “There isn’t a dumber person in sports media today,” he said about Clark’s video. On X, multiple users echoed that sentiment, arguing that Uber drivers commonly play popular music without targeting passengers.
As criticism continued to build, Clark addressed the situation directly in a follow-up post. He said the video was intended as sarcasm and suggested that regular viewers should have recognized the tone. On X, he wrote, “For the dummies who don’t know!! I’m joking!! Which I am everytime I post #RCconfessionals and #ChroniclesOfAfatMan. I now realize some of you can’t comprehend sarcasm! X is a toxins place man!”
