*A notice posted on unit doors at Renaissance Estates in Ecorse, Michigan has ignited a debate over tenant rights and community rules. The letter warns that ongoing issues with crowds, visitor traffic, and nighttime disturbances could cost tenants their housing.
According to Local 4, the wording drew immediate attention.
“This serves as a notice and final warning regarding large crowds and high traffic at your unit,” it states, along with the pointed warning: “Do not bring the club back to your unit! This is not the projects anymore.”
Property management confirmed the letter was genuine, and it did not sit well with everyone connected to the complex. One visitor was blunt about what he saw as an overreach.
“You can’t tell people that they cannot come over here. If people are paying their rent, you cannot tell them they cannot have friends and family visit them,” he said.

Another visitor described a tense exchange tied to one of the residents. “I was chilling with a friend, and he called the friend on the telephone, and he said if that guy is in front of your house you’re going to get put out. Move him immediately,” the visitor said.
Opinion among residents was divided. One tenant voiced support for management’s stance.
“I’m happy that the office did have the people who are not into all the mess backs and stood up for them like, hey, you’re going to take this elsewhere because it is property management. It’s their job to manage the property,” the resident said.
The letter sets quiet hours from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. and signals that some tenants are already facing eviction. Renaissance Estates told Local 4 the company remains “committed to maintaining a respectful and stable community for all residents.”
