*Ray J opened up about his strained relationship with sister Brandy, discussing underlying tensions and emotional disconnect in a recent interview.
During an appearance on the Drop The Lo podcast, hosted by “Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada and her daughter Shaniece Hairston, the singer admitted to feeling like an outsider in his own family.
“I love my sister, but I’m an embarrassment to them,” Ray J admitted when asked about his current relationship with the Grammy-winning artist, per BET.com. “I think we’re good and we’ll be okay. There’s certain things I feel we should do as a family that her and my cousin might not agree upon but, to each his own.”
The former “Love & Hip Hop” star shared that his children, particularly his son Epic, maintain a close connection with their aunt.
“Epic calls his auntie every day. He loves his auntie,” he said. “We’ve been able to connect through him when they’re on FaceTime. We say what’s up, but other than that, we haven’t talked.”

Ray J also hinted at friction with his cousin, explaining that he feels rejected for being unapologetically himself. “My cousin may not want me to be me, but I’m superseding them,” he declared.
Ray J made it clear that criticism from his family hits harder than any outside opinion. “You only feel bad when your family has a problem. Your family is the only people that can get to you,” he explained.
He added, “When your mom, sister, cousin, or your dad start to question the algorithm, it’s not fair because they don’t understand what’s happening in the digital world.”
The emotional clip offered a rare glimpse into Ray J’s personal struggles and how his public persona continues to clash with private expectations.
