
*Actor and comedian Omar Gooding is recovering in the hospital after a serious car accident left him with a painful neck injury. The 49-year-old shared updates from his hospital bed, reassuring fans while also revealing the severity of the crash and its aftermath.
According The Sun, Gooding explained that he had been asleep in the back seat while traveling to the airport when the accident occurred. Despite the frightening circumstances, he credited one crucial safety measure for helping him avoid worse injuries, noting that wearing a seatbelt made a significant difference in the outcome.
In a video message, he reassured followers about his condition, saying, “There will not be a clone of me, I’m good. No surgery needed, thank Jesus.” He later clarified the nature of his injury, describing it as a “Hangman’s fracture,” while emphasizing that his neck was not completely broken.

He also shared more details in a caption, writing, “Yes , I was in a bad accident,” and adding, “I was in the back seat sleeping on my way to the airport and YES I had my seatbelt on or it would have been worse.”
Gooding said he decided to speak out publicly to reduce the number of concerned calls, explaining he needed to keep his phone available for family. Doctors have advised a recovery period of about three months, which could impact his upcoming appearances. Gooding indicated he would update fans on his schedule and expressed hope that he would return to work by the summer.
In a follow-up video, he gave a more candid update on his condition, saying, “I’m f***ed up. In a lot of pain. So stop calling me.” He added, “Wait three months and then call me. I love you all. I’ll be fine, but right now I’m in pain.”
