*Michelle Obama has drawn a hard line with her husband regarding any future political ambitions, sources claim.
The former First Lady has allegedly made clear she would end their marriage if Barack Obama attempted another White House run, RadarOnline reports. A family source told The Hollywood Reporter about Michelle’s firm stance on returning to Washington. “If Barack ever tried to run again, Michelle would walk. She’s done her time. She does not want to go back to the White House – not for a single day,” the insider revealed. The source added that Michelle once said, “I’d rather divorce a president than live like one again.”
Barack has acknowledged the strain his two terms in office, spanning 2009 to 2017, placed on their marriage. “So I have been trying to dig myself out of that hole by doing occasionally fun things,” he told Hamilton College President Steven Tepper at an event earlier this year, hinting at efforts to rekindle joy in their relationship.

During an episode of the “IMO podcast” with her brother, Craig Robinson, Michelle revealed she initially opposed Barack’s presidential campaign. “Being married to the president of the United States (is a) thing that none of us kind of banked on,” she stated, noting that her brother “talked me into supporting his run” when she wasn’t in support.
“People always ask me and Barack, how did we stay hopeful in, not just the eight years that we were in the White House, but beyond?” she said during an appearance at SXSW in March, PEOPLE reported. Michelle didn’t shy away from listing the barrage of rumors that have plagued them over the years. “Because, let me tell you, there was a lot of negative energy flipping our way — a lot of rumors, a lot of gossip, a lot of, you know, my husband wasn’t born in this country … we weren’t patriotic, he didn’t get into Harvard,” she added.
Despite these attacks, Michelle emphasized their resilience, crediting their ability to tune out the noise—a practice they’ve passed down to their daughters, Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24.
“But through it all, what kept us sane — and we tried to instill this in our daughters — is, you cannot live through social media,” she stated, revealing she has never “once looked at a comment section.”
Political analysts have discussed the theoretical possibility of former presidents running again. Alexandria Hurley, the owner of ABH Public Relations, said in an interview with RadarOnline, “In theory, such a move could create a precedent that allows other former presidents, like Barack Obama, to be discussed as potential candidates again.”
