*Marselles Brown, the 57-year-old father of Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown and a former professional boxer, faces attempted murder charges after a violent confrontation at All American Park in Las Vegas.
Brown allegedly stabbed youth football coach Cross Tupuola multiple times following a heated parking lot dispute. Witnesses reported a frenzied attack, with Brown wielding a knife before fleeing the scene. We reported earlier, the incident began when Brown, stepping out of his Lincoln Navigator, dinged Tupuola’s car door, sparking a verbal altercation, per police documents. The argument escalated after Tupuola reportedly accepted Brown’s challenge to a fight.
As TMZ reports, Brown’s attorney, Arnold Weinstock, defended his client, stating, “Everything I know, and I’ve known Mr. Brown for quite some time, I do not believe that he initiated anything, and he is telling me that everything that occurred was him trying to defend himself after he was struck.”
Weinstock claimed Tupuola pistol-whipped Brown, though police records do not mention a gun. Tupuola suffered severe injuries, including stab wounds to his stomach, back, clavicle, and hands, requiring emergency surgery, including a partial gastrectomy. He remains in critical condition in a Las Vegas hospital. Brown, who sustained a broken toe, scraped knees, and a bruised cheek, was arrested and booked at the Clark County Detention Center.
In court, Brown appeared in shackles and a wheelchair, with bail set at $300,000. His attorney expressed confidence in his release, saying, “Hopefully he should be out in the next day or two.” Brown’s next court date is set for August 26.
