*R. Kelly, the embattled R&B singer currently serving a 30-year sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking, was hospitalized on June 13 after collapsing in solitary confinement at Butner Federal Correctional Institution in North Carolina.
Court documents reveal the 57-year-old suffered dizziness, blackouts, and unconsciousness due to an overdose of anxiety and sleep medication administered the previous night. As his legal team focuses on his health crisis, a separate controversy has emerged involving Joycelyn Savage’s family, who are vehemently opposing Kelly’s push for a presidential pardon.
Gerald Griggs, the attorney representing Savage’s family, told TMZ that Kelly should not be pardoned, asserting that the singer continues to exert control over Joycelyn, his former fiancée, who has been missing for years. The family has had no direct contact since 2019, only receiving messages from individuals claiming to represent her.
Her mother Jonjelyn said: “We need to hear from you directly. We’ve always heard from third-party information.” Joycelyn’s father Timothy, added, “Everyone always wanna say she’s grown. Let me hear from a grown woman.”
The Savage family believes Joycelyn is alive and hopes she is healthy, expressing their deep desire to hear from her directly. They also assert that Kelly has never accepted responsibility for his actions, was rightfully convicted, and should serve his entire sentence.

Kelly’s legal representative, Beau Brindley, declined to address the Savage family’s concerns, telling TMZ, “not willing to discuss Joycelyn right now because they want to focus on the singer and what’s happening to him.”
Brindley has expressed optimism about securing a pardon from former President Trump, suggesting Trump could empathize with Kelly’s claims of being targeted by federal authorities. Additionally, Brindley is seeking Kelly’s release to home confinement, citing alleged threats from white supremacists that led to the singer’s placement in solitary confinement.
Kelly’s legal troubles stem from a 2021 conviction in New York for racketeering and sex trafficking, followed by a 2022 guilty verdict in Illinois for child pornography and enticing minors for sex. As the Savage family continues to search for answers about Joycelyn’s whereabouts, they remain steadfast in their belief that Kelly’s influence persists, urging that justice be upheld.
