*Shannon Sharpe’s job at ESPN could be in serious jeopardy. After explosive allegations and a shocking audio leak, sources say the network is quietly preparing to part ways with the NFL Hall of Famer. Sharpe continues to appear on “First Take” for now, but insiders suggest his days at ESPN might be numbered.
The firestorm began when a $50 million lawsuit was filed against Sharpe, accusing him of rape, emotional abuse, and threats. Now, a disturbing audio clip has surfaced, allegedly featuring Sharpe making violent threats. The pressure is mounting, and ESPN may be ready to make a move.
Sharpe Sued for Rape and Abuse in Nevada
The lawsuit was filed in Clark County, Nevada, by a woman identified as Jane Doe. She has since been identified as Gabriella Zuniga, an Only Fans model. She alleges that Sharpe raped her in October 2024 and again in January 2025 during a “rocky consensual relationship.” The court documents also accuse him of using physical force and causing emotional distress.
The woman’s attorney is Tony Buzbee, known for handling high-profile sexual misconduct cases. She also claims Sharpe entered her apartment without permission and secretly recorded their sexual encounters.

Sharpe Denies Claims and Blames Blackmail Attempt
Sharpe fired back with a firm denial. He posted a statement from his attorney, Lanny J. Davis, on X (formerly Twitter): “It is filled with lies, distortions, and misrepresentations — and it will not succeed.”
Davis added, “Mr. Sharpe categorically denies all allegations of coercion or misconduct – especially the gross lie of ‘rape’ – and will not submit to what he sees as an egregious attempt at blackmail.”
Leaked Audio Raises the Stakes
A new audio recording may be the biggest threat to Sharpe’s future at ESPN. In the clip, Sharpe reportedly says, “If you say that word one more time, I’m going to f–king choke the s–t out of you when I see you.” The woman replies, “I don’t want to be choked,” to which Sharpe allegedly says, “Yes, you do. I don’t think you have a choice in the matter.”
The authenticity of the clip has not been publicly confirmed, but the fallout is already intense. Many are calling for ESPN to suspend or remove Sharpe until the case is resolved.
Why ESPN Hasn’t Pulled Sharpe Yet
Despite the serious accusations, Sharpe is still on air. According to a report by The Athletic, he continues to appear on “First Take” as scheduled. ESPN has not made any public statements about his status, but industry experts believe internal discussions are ongoing. Stephen A. Smith, Sharpe’s co-host, has acknowledged the situation but declined to comment on ESPN’s plans.
Settlement Offer Adds Another Layer
Sharpe’s attorney revealed that before the lawsuit was filed, the analyst offered at least $10 million to settle the claims. The offer was reportedly made during mediation and was not an admission of guilt. The woman declined the offer and proceeded with legal action.
This detail has fueled speculation about Sharpe’s motives and whether ESPN will continue to support him publicly.
Shannon Sharpe’s Career and Image Under Fire
Sharpe, 56, is a three-time Super Bowl winner and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011. He joined ESPN in 2023 after leaving Fox Sports and launched the popular podcast “Club Shay Shay.”
Now, the combination of legal drama, public backlash, and the leaked audio could undo decades of career-building—unless ESPN decides to stand by him.
