*The release of Drake’s latest album “ICEMAN” has sparked renewed industry attention, combining commercial dominance with fresh conversation around his long-standing dynamic with Jay-Z.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, Drake references Jay-Z multiple times on the record, building on a relationship that has evolved from early mutual admiration into visible tension over the years. The new material arrives amid heightened anticipation for the artist’s latest commercial performance.
Early projections suggest “ICEMAN” could move as many as 520,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. That figure positions the album for a likely debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, which would mark Drake’s 15th career chart-topper. Reaching that milestone would place him ahead of Jay-Z, who currently shares the record for the most No. 1 albums by a rapper with 14. It would also extend Drake’s standing among male solo artists more broadly, where he is currently tied at the top with Jay-Z at 14.

If “ICEMAN” reaches the summit, Drake would also move into a tie with Taylor Swift for the most No. 1 albums among solo performers. Only The Beatles remain ahead overall, holding 19 chart-topping albums.
Streaming figures have further amplified the release’s impact. Reports indicate Drake accumulated roughly 250 million Spotify streams on launch day alone, which is being described as a record-setting performance for a male artist on the platform.
The rollout also included two surprise companion projects, “MAID OF HONOUR” and “HABIBTI,” which expanded the scale of the release event. Together, all three projects have contributed to a major global response.
On Apple Music, “ICEMAN” reached No. 1 in 79 countries, while the additional releases also performed strongly across international charts.
The launch triggered a dramatic spike in listening activity, with simultaneous streams reportedly increasing by 1100 percent shortly after release. The combined commercial and streaming momentum underscores the scale of Drake’s latest rollout as industry observers track its chart outcome.
