*Don Lemon says he has considered running for president, even though he knows some people may dismiss the idea.
Speaking on a podcast appearance with Alex Wagner, Lemon discussed the concept while stressing that he is not currently preparing to enter a race. According to Mediaite, during the discussion, Lemon voiced strong confidence in his capabilities, remarking, “People are going to laugh,” before adding, “I think I could be president of the United States. I could definitely run this country better than [President] Donald Trump.”
Despite the statement, he made clear that he is not taking steps toward launching a campaign at this time.
He described the possibility as something he has considered but not acted on. “Do I ever think about it? Yes. Could it happen? Yeah, it could happen if the opportunity presented itself, the right opportunity presented itself,” he said, adding, “Am I at that point now? No. And I know people are going to say Don Lemon is crazy.”

Lemon also addressed the added challenges faced by candidates from minority backgrounds, suggesting they are often examined more intensely. “Why can’t I think about running for office? Why can’t I think about being president when I look at what we have?… Did anybody think Barack Obama, as he says, this guy with a funny name is from a mixed background, did anybody ever think that he would become president, that he had that aspiration?”
Lemon clarified his personal stance, saying, “I don’t have an aspiration to become president,” while adding, “but I do think that I could run this country a lot better than Donald Trump.”
