*A reported third-party offer to secure a $1 million bond for livestreamer Chud the Builder has added a new layer of attention to his ongoing Tennessee legal case, which is also moving forward to a grand jury review.
The development comes as Dalton Eatherly, known online as Chud the Builder, remains in custody following a court appearance in Montgomery County on May 21. During that hearing, a judge reduced his bond from $1.25 million to $1 million while allowing the case tied to the courthouse shooting to proceed through the grand jury system.
The case centers on an incident outside the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville, where authorities allege a confrontation escalated and ended in gunfire. Prosecutors say both Eatherly and another man, identified as disabled veteran Joshua Fox, were injured during the encounter. Fox was reportedly hospitalized with gunshot wounds to his stomach and shoulder.
Eatherly faces multiple felony charges, including attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Officials previously pointed to the severity of the allegations and the public setting of the incident when setting his original bond amount.
Attention on the case has also grown due to scrutiny over potential funding sources for any bond payment. Prosecutors previously requested a hearing to examine where money raised by supporters, which reportedly exceeded $150,000 through online fundraising, originated and whether it could be used for release.
Adding to the controversy, reports indicate that a crypto gambling platform called Duel has emerged as a potential third party willing to post the $1 million bond, though the arrangement has not been finalized or approved by the court.
If released, Eatherly would be subject to strict conditions, including electronic monitoring, surrender of firearms, and limitations on public commentary. He would also be barred from discussing the case on social media or appearing on media platforms while awaiting trial.
