*Several major podcasts and radio shows have recently migrated to Netflix, with The Breakfast Club among the most notable. While the program continues to air on radio, full interviews are no longer available on YouTube — meaning fans must now subscribe to Netflix to watch Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Jess Hilarious in action.
The Breakfast Club is not alone in making the move. Hip-hop program Rory & Mal has also shifted its content to the platform, and both shows have experienced a measurable drop in online engagement and viral clip activity since the transition, Hot New Hip Hop reports.
For The Breakfast Club, the numbers tell a stark story. The Power 105 YouTube page drew 27 million viewers in February 2025. One year later, that figure had fallen to 13 million — a decline directly tied to the Netflix deal.

Financially, the arrangement is attractive in the short term. Netflix pays upfront for a full year of content, a sum that likely outpaces what the show would earn through YouTube ad revenue alone. But industry observers caution that the long-term trade-off could be costly. If The Breakfast Club eventually returns to YouTube, there is no guarantee its former audience will follow — and a diminished reach could have lasting consequences for the show’s cultural influence.
Netflix is moving aggressively to expand its podcast footprint. Beyond The Breakfast Club, the streamer recently struck a deal with iHeartMedia — similar to its earlier Spotify partnership in October — bringing shows such as “My Favorite Murder,” “Bobby Bones Presents: The Bobbycast,” “Behind the Bastards,” “Dear Chelsea,” “This Is Important,” “Joe and Jada,” and “The Psychology of Your 20s” to the platform. The push signals Netflix’s ambition to compete more directly with YouTube for dominance in the podcast space.
“With this partnership, we are incredibly excited to offer our members such unmatched variety, and to deliver highly entertaining podcasts featuring some of the world’s most dynamic personalities,” Lauren Smith, Netflix vice president of content licensing and programming strategy said, per The Hollywood Reporter.
