Warner, 54, tragically passed away on Sunday, July 20, while vacationing in Costa Rica with his wife and 8-year-old daughter. According to ABC News, the actor drowned while swimming with his daughter when they encountered difficulty in the water. Surfers rushed to their aid, managing to rescue his daughter and bring Warner to shore, where he received 45 minutes of CPR. Despite efforts, Warner could not be revived.
Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Agency confirmed that the cause of death was accidental asphyxiation by submersion. One of the rescuers, who was briefly hospitalized, has since been released without complications.
“The Cosby Show” remains part of TV One’s regular programming, airing weekdays at 7 AM and 6 PM ET. The upcoming tribute marathons will allow longtime fans to honor Warner’s enduring impact and remember the joy he brought into living rooms across the nation.
