*Add Wanda Sykes among the folk playing the blame game regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’ Election Day loss to Donald Trump.
During a recent appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “The Upshaws” entertainer weighed in on what went wrong for the Harris campaign in her bid to become the next commander-in-chief.
Pointing out the obvious, HuffPost noted that Sykes was not shy with her feelings over No. 45 becoming No. 47 and his fellow Republicans coming out victorious in the election.
“Jimmy, I’m a Black woman and a lesbian,” she told host Jimmy Kimmel. “How the hell you think I’m doing?”
As for why the election ended up the way it did, Sykes put it all on one thing, something many voters enjoy when starting their day. Breakfast cereal. Yep, breakfast cereal, the most important meal of the day.

“I blamed those damned Cheerio commercials … showing all those interracial couples,” the “Bad Moms” films fixture voiced. “You’re scaring the shit out of white people. What’re you all doing? It’s just cereal. Just sell the damn cereal. Why you bring us into this? They got gay couples selling shit. Like just frickin’ sell your stuff, don’t bring us into this!”
Although pointing the finger at breakfast cereal for Harris’ loss may be odd for some folk, Sykes may be on to something.
HuffPost referenced a situation in 2013 when a Cheerios ad caught flack for featuring a diverse cast of actors. In this situation, it was a white mom, a Black dad, and their biracial daughter who ignited the ire of racists who jeered the ad.
So next time you have breakfast, think of the power your bowl of cereal has on the state of politics and what Cheerios did to influence the next four years after the 2024 election.
