“Taye Diggs and Meagan Good are set to star in and executive produce Lifetime’s “Terry McMillan Presents: Forever” from director Charles Murray (Outer Range, Luke Cage).
Per Deadline, here’s the synopsis: “Terry McMillan Presents: Forever follows Johnnie (Diggs) returns home after a tour of military service, he’s unexpectedly met with divorce papers. With his life at a crossroads, the last thing he expected was to fall for the local policewoman Carlie (Good), who pulled him over for speeding. Determined to win her heart, his first hurdle is winning over her three daughters. To be the man Carlie needs him to be, Johnnie must let go of old fears and regrets to find love and learn the true meaning of family.”
We reported previously that New York Times bestselling author Terry McMillan will executive produce several original movies under the banner “Terry McMillan Presents” for Lifetime. According to Variety, the movies will focus on the love and lives of African American women.
“Terry McMillan Presents: Forever” premieres Saturday, August 24 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT. A week before it airs, “Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted By Love,” starring and executive produced by Garcelle Beauvais, will debut on August 17.
“Terry is an American treasure with her ability to capture the female experience in finding love and happiness,” said Elaine Frontain Bryant, EVP and Head of Programming, A&E, Lifetime and LMN. “We are so excited to partner with her on these new movies that I know will also resonate with our viewers.”
“As women, we can be messy. We can be complicated. We can be so many things,” said McMillan. “Life is never tied up in a bow so it’s thrilling to be back in business with Lifetime which allows women to tell our own stories in an authentic way.”
McMillan is best known for her acclaimed novels and turned-hit films, “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” and “Waiting to Exhale.”
Lifetime previously collaborated with McMillan in 2014 on the movie “A Day Late and a Dollar Short,” featuring Whoopi Goldberg, Mekhi Phifer, Anika Noni Rose, Kimberly Elise, Tichina Arnold and Ving Rhames
