*A woman in North Memphis, TN has been arrested following a startling incident involving her hairstylist. Stephanie Samuels, 36, has been charged with aggravated assault after a confrontation over overpayment for services escalated into violence.
Currently held in jail with a $1,000 bond, Samuels is set to appear in court on Monday at 9 a.m.
The incident reportedly occurred on November 30 when police responded to a call regarding an aggravated assault in the 900 block of Forrest Avenue. According to the victim’s testimony, she was in the process of braiding Samuels’ hair when Samuels suddenly informed her that she could not pay for the service.
This revelation triggered a drastic change in Samuels’ demeanor, as she became “very irate,” WREG reported.
In a completely unexpected turn, Samuels allegedly bit the victim on the right forearm. The situation escalated further when she produced a chemical agent, spraying it directly into the victim’s eyes before brandishing a yellow and black box cutter, which added a threatening layer to the confrontation. Following the attack, Samuels reportedly fled the scene on foot.
The victim managed to provide a video-recorded statement to the police on December 3, in which she positively identified Samuels as the assailant. The police quickly acted on this information, leading to Samuels’ arrest.
This disturbing incident raises questions about safety in personal service environments and the potential for disputes to turn violent. As the case unfolds, community members and those in the beauty industry are left to reflect on the challenges faced when dealing with sensitive financial matters in service settings.
