The NFL icon sternly told the fan, “Stop,” as someone in his group nudged the fan away while they entered a restaurant. The moment quickly drew attention on social media, sparking backlash.
On X, one person wrote, “He has a moment to be a child’s hero and instead chose to destroy that. Shame on him.”
Another X user added, “I would hope that a man worth over $1 billion could show a little understanding for a kid who wants a photo.”

Some fans did come to James’ defense, as X user Collin Rugg wrote, “I definitely don’t think it’s fair to judge him as a person with this one interaction Regardless, the picture would have taken 1 second.”
Another fan added, “You all acting like he hasn’t donated millions of dollars to schools, youth and communities.”
Despite the buzz, James hasn’t responded publicly to the criticism.
