*An American Airlines flight bound for Texas had to turn back to Arizona due to a passenger’s aggressive farting.

According to Fox 17, the incident occurred on Jan. 14 during a flight from Phoenix, Arizona to Austin, Texas.

Reddit user lamgalatx wrote that an unidentified man “was audibly disgruntled about something, maybe hungover.”

“I overhear him loudly say, ‘You thought that was rude? Well how about this smell’ and farted,” lamgalatx wrote. “Idk what provoked that comment, and while kinda funny to overhear, it was uncalled for especially coming from a grown man on an airplane nonetheless.”

During the flight, while people were eating, lamgalatx said “fartman” blurted out, “yeah, everybody let’s just eat the smelliest food possible all at the same time.”

According to lamgalatx, “fartman” exchanged heated words with several other passengers annoyed by his “rude” antics onboard the plane.

Passengers “were on edge about what he may say or do next,” lamgalatx wrote.

Flight attendants ultimately intervened and told the man, “That’s enough,” and passengers were informed that the plane was returning to the gate.

“We get back to the gate and a flight attendant comes back and informs fartman that he will not be staying on this flight,” lamgalatx explained on Reddit. “He simply replies, ‘I don’t understand’ and she tells him they’ll talk about it off the plane.”

“Fartman” apparently gathered up his belongings and got off the plane without incident.

“We all breathed a sigh of relief when he was removed,” lamgalatx noted, adding that the flight was delayed about 15 to 30 minutes.

“All in all I think American handled it swiftly,” wrote lamgalatx, who “did not film” any of the incident.
