*Tamar Braxton’s ex-husband, Vince Herbert, has been ordered to pay a default judgment to a jeweler over a debt owed for custom jewelry.
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ordered the music producer to pay Greene & Co International and owner Michael Greene a total of $68,856.96.
The judgment comes after Herbert failed to respond to the lawsuit despite being served with the legal paperwork.
We previously reported that Herbert was accused of owing the famed Los Angeles jeweler over $80k, but he refused to pay.
As RadarOnline reported, Michael Greene and Greene & Co International claim Herbert contacted them in 2018 and requested seven custom pieces. The company trusted Herbert was good for the line of credit they extended him after he boasted about “his career, and his involvement in the music industry,” according to the lawsuit.
After the pieces were created, Greene & Co. allowed Herbert to leave the store with the jewelry without payment. But the check he wrote for $20k ended up bouncing, and he failed to make good on repeated promises to pay, according to the lawsuit.
The company ultimately sued Hurbert for fraud and breach of contract.
“Immediately, via text messages with the [Herbert], [Greene & Co.] informed the [Herbert] that the check was returned for insufficient funds and inquired when the $20,000.00 and the remaining balance of the invoice would be paid in full,” per the suit, according to Radar.
The jeweler’s lawsuit initially demanded $66k in damages for fraud and breach of contract but upped the amount to $81k.
