*Ashanti’s destination wedding turns into a nightmare in the new comedy “The Plus One” from Saban Films.
Ashanti’s character Lizzie faces off with her best friend’s wedding guest in the new trailer. Per People, a synopsis of the film says Lizzie’s “carefully laid plans are thrown into disarray when her ‘man-of-honor’ Marshall brings his ‘ex-from-hell,’ Marie.”
“It is going to take an all-out effort from Lizzie’s friends and family to keep Lizzie from losing her mind as her happily ever after is faced with ruin,” the synopsis adds of the film.
Described as “an uproarious and charming romantic comedy,” the film also stars Cedric the Entertainer, Jonathan Bennett, Michelle Hurd, B.J. Britt, Cassandra Scerbo, Julissa Bermudez, Wesley Armstrong and Brendan Bradley.

Directed by Erik White from a screenplay and story by Brendan Andolsek Bradley and Austin Highsmith Graces, “The Plus One” opens in select theaters on Friday, Sept. 29, and On Demand and digital platforms on Oct 3.
Meanwhile, we reported previously via CNN that Ashanti and Rapper Nelly are back together more than 20 years after they were first a couple.
The pair were first linked in 2003 and split up a decade later. Both confirmed this week that they are once again an item.
Ashanti attended Tuesday night’s MTV VMA Awards, where Nelly was performing, and carried a clutch with a photo of her and Nelly from when they attended the awards ceremony in 2003. During an interview with E! News, Ashanti said she thought the bag was “cute” and was asked if she and the “Hot in Here” star were in a relationship again.
After some laughing, she responded, “I mean…yeah.”
