Kelly Lang headlines the Grand Ole Opry for the Opry Goes Pink Concert.

*“So shocked,” said Country icon Kelly Lang about singing at the Grand Ole Opry for their Opry Goes Pink concert event. “To seek me out!”

Kelly Lang has sung at the Grand Ole Opry many times with other artists as the lead act, such as with Barry Gibbs, but this is the first time Lang is headlining along with everyone else at the Grand Ole Opry. Kelly has written hit songs for Ricky Skaggs, Oak Ridge Boys, Crystal Gayle, Johnny Lee, T.G. Sheppard, and Jerry Lee Lewis. She has duet singles with T. G. Sheppard, Olivia Newton-John, Barry Gibbs, and so many more.

“I am singing two songs I’ve written  – ‘I Think It’s Jesus’ is one,” Kelly told me when I asked.

My first time interviewing Lang was earlier this year, I was not aware of her deep roots in Country music, but I knew her name as a songwriter on others (I like looking at the credits). However, her voice, wow! I never knew, and I asked her where she had been as a vocalist! She modestly said, “I have a few songs out there.” That’s when I learned how deep she touches the careers of Country music’s iconic performers, if not as a vocalist, or on duets, then it is as a songwriter.

Kelly Lang has released at least eight albums and “produced” at least 11 studio albums. Amazing. Her spirit is amazing as well, which I am sure is why the Grand Ole Opry reached out to her. The Grand Ole Opry, located in Nashville, is synonymous with the best in Country Music performances. Nashville is synonymous with cultivating the best in Country artists. The Grand Ole Opry was established in 1925 by George Hay as a one-hour Country music (barn music) radio show on WSM, with live weekly performances at the Opry House (Music City) in Nashville, Tennessee.  Today, aside from WSM Radio the show is also aired on Sirius XM and Circle TV. Country icons that have made the Grand Ole Opry home include Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, and Reba McEntire.

“And at this age, that is way past me,” she laughed a little about her own two-song segment at the Grand Ole Opry’s Opry Goes Pink concert. “Tells you, never give up.” www.Opry.com www.KellyLang.net
