*The teenager who was one of the five people killed in the Titan submersible disaster, was “terrified” about joining his father on the trip, his family claimed.

Suleman Dawood, 19, along with his billionaire-businessman father Shahzada and three others, perished when the submersible imploded on its way down to explore the Titanic.

According to Shahzada’s sister Azmeh, the teenager “wasn’t very up for it” but wanted to please his father since the trip fell on Father’s Day.

“I am thinking of Suleman, who is 19, in there, just perhaps gasping for breath … It’s been crippling, to be honest,” Azmeh told NBC News.

On Thursday it was confirmed that Titan, the Titanic-bound submersible that went missing on Sunday with five people on board suffered a “catastrophic implosion,” killing everyone on board, US Coast Guard Rear Adm. John Mauger said, per CNN.

Aboard the Titan were Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, Hamish Harding, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet. The grieving family said Shahzada was “absolutely obsessed” with the Titanic since a young age.

As CNN reports, the US Coast Guard said it found a “debris field” in the search area near the Titanic. The debris was located on the ocean floor, roughly 500 meters off of the bow of the Titanic, at about 8:55 a.m. ET Thursday.

The Titan began its descent Sunday to explore the wreckage of the Titanic, located about 13,000 feet below sea level in the North Atlantic Ocean. However, the cramped vessel lost contact with its mother ship about 1 hour and 45 minutes into its dive, per CNN.

OceanGate Expeditions, the company that operated the submersible, issued the following statement: “These men were true explorers who shared a distinct spirit of adventure, and a deep passion for exploring and protecting the world’s oceans. Our hearts are with these five souls and every member of their families during this tragic time. We grieve the loss of life and joy they brought to everyone they knew,” OceanGate said in a statement.
