Kirk & Tammy Franklin Bring Love and Mentorship On ‘The One’ | Watch

Kirk and Tammy Franklin are set to captivate audiences with their new TVOne dating series, “The One.”

The show aims to help two successful and attractive individuals find true love with the guidance and mentorship of Kirk and Tammy. With their own experiences and wisdom, the couple hopes to assist these singles in navigating the challenges of dating and building healthy relationships. EUR talked with the couple about their experience being mentors and what people often try to leave out when composing their top five relationship principles.

When asked about their decision to take on the role of mentors in a dating series, the couple expressed their natural inclination towards guiding others.

“I’ve always been kind of the mentor, the counselor within my friend group. And so, for me, it was just something that was naturally happening,” shared Tammy. Meanwhile, Kirk revealed his passion for bringing people together. He loves the idea of playing a role in connecting individuals, making the show a perfect fit for him.

Reflecting on the changes in the dating landscape, Kirk acknowledged the evolving ideals and constructs surrounding relationships. He noted that traditional notions heavily influenced the narrative in the past, especially within church communities. There was societal pressure on women to be married with children by a certain age, leading to a sense of inadequacy for those who didn’t conform. Kirk believes that such social pressures were problematic and often hindered the dating experience.

As mentors on “The One,” Kirk and Tammy found a special sense of fulfillment in supporting the contestants’ journey to finding their perfect match.

“You can’t help but lean toward someone you think will be a good fit for someone else,” shared Tammy. Being able to come alongside the contestants as mentors and coaches fueled their curiosity and love for helping people.

In the first episode, Kirk emphasized the importance of attraction among the top five principles for finding a mate.

He playfully remarked, “if one of Tammy’s eyeballs was bigger than the other, and she had a front tooth that kind of was long and humble, but bottom lip, she would not be sitting here with me. Do you see how good-looking I am? Do you think that would work even?” Kirk emphasized that physical attraction plays a significant role in relationships and should not be downplayed or dismissed as false humility. Acknowledging this fundamental truth is essential to set a strong foundation for a successful partnership.

Having been together for 27 years, Kirk and Tammy Franklin have learned valuable lessons about relationships. Tammy highlighted the importance of deconstructing the ideals of perfection that often lead to failure. She emphasized that romanticized notions perpetuated by movies and social media can create unrealistic expectations.

“If you stay in fantasy, you will not succeed in the relationship,” stated Tammy. The couple emphasizes the importance of embracing the reality of relationships and nurturing them in the real world.

In addition to “The One” debuting today, Kirk is also preparing for his Exodus Music & Arts Festival in Dallas, Texas, where he will showcase his latest single, “All Things” taking place May 20 and 21st featuring Yolanda Adams, Chandler Moore, Kierra Sheard Kelly and more.
