*Back in August 2022, former video vixen-turned-New York Times bestselling author Karrine Steffans appeared on a segment of MADAMENOIRE’S I GOT QUESTIONS to discuss her name change and why women should date multiple men until marriage.
Last spring, Steffans, famously known as Supahead, changed her name to Elisabeth Ovesen. As it turns out, this is her legal surname.
“Karrine Steffans. I used it for 10 years. It is my pen name. It is one of my pen names. Actually, I have several. So, a lot of our favorite authors are not using their real names. It’s no different than any other kind of entertainer using stage names. I mean, stage/pen names are basically the same thing,” she told the outlet.
“Karrine Steffans was mine. It had a ten-year run, which is my initial plan for the pen name to start in 2005 and finish her off in 2015. Everything I do is very calculated and very much on purpose. With purpose. Same thing with Elisabeth. Elisabeth is not my birth name. As Elisabeth is not my first name.”

Earlier this week we reported that Ovesen recently announced that she is pregnant. As Vibe reports, she hit up Instagram to show off her positive pregnancy test in a now-deleted post that she captioned, “For some women, women like me, these two lines are scary.”
In her MadameNoire conversation, Ovesen noted that young women who want to get married and have children should date multiple men at once because men are not “running out of time” like they are.
“Date however you feel comfortable dating. Date as many people as you can date not one person. I always recommend dating more than one man at a time until you find a man you want to give some time to. Some of us–a lot of us–spend a lot of time at ‘waste-your-time university,’ trying to get a degree only to find there is no commencement. You are not going to be graduating.”
She added, “You’re going to have to start all over again with somebody else after four, five, six, seven, eight years with somebody waiting for a ring, waiting for a proposal, waiting for this or that, having children with people that we don’t want in our lives. After a while, some of us are having multiple kids with multiple people that we never want to see again. I think it’s important to slow down.”
Ovesen continued, “A lot of people see women who date around as, yeah–which is nuts, by the way– we’re running out of time here, especially for women who want to have children. We are born with all the eggs we’re going to have. Men can take their time and waste their time for as long as they want … He’ll marry an 18-year-old and he’ll go on and have kids. But women are running out of time. Those who want to have children are running out of biological time. So, it makes more sense for us to date multiples than it does men because they’re not running out of time, they’re fine.”
